... Read moreIf you're looking for ways to make your pumpkin bread even more special, consider experimenting with different spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin spice blend to bring out a richer fall flavor. Adding a cream cheese glaze or a simple icing drizzle can make it a delightful dessert as well. For a healthier twist, I sometimes substitute part of the flour with whole wheat or oat flour and use less sugar in the filling. Using fresh pumpkin adds natural sweetness and nutrition, making this bread a great choice for a breakfast that feels indulgent yet nourishing. To enhance the bread rolls for Thanksgiving or any fall festival, try incorporating toasted nuts such as pecans or walnuts in the filling for added texture and flavor. Also, brushing the tops with an egg wash before baking gives a lovely golden shine. If you prefer a sourdough variation, using a mild pumpkin sourdough starter ferment will lend a subtle tang and improved digestibility. Don't hesitate to adjust proofing times depending on your kitchen temperature to get the perfect rise. Finally, I find that pairing pumpkin bread with a cup of warm tea or coffee creates a cozy moment that’s just perfect for chilly fall mornings or afternoon treats.
