Okay, so you've seen my Dollar Tree Makeup Challenge results, but let's dive deeper into the experience! When I decided to do a full face using dollar tree cosmetics & tools ONLY, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. My main goal was to see if you could truly achieve a decent look on a super tight budget, and spoiler alert: it’s more possible than you might think! First off, finding the right products at Dollar Tree can be a treasure hunt. I focused on brands like L.A. Colors and Sassy+Chic, as they tend to have a slightly better reputation in the budget beauty world. For foundation, I usually mix a few to get my perfect shade, but here, I had to work with what I found. I picked up an L.A. Colors Liquid Makeup, which surprisingly offered decent light coverage. My trick for making it work? Applying it with a slightly damp Dollar Tree beauty sponge – it helped blend it out more smoothly and prevent it from looking cakey. Concealer was a bit trickier. The options were limited, but I found a stick concealer that, while not super high coverage, worked okay for brightening under my eyes. The key was to layer it thinly and set it quickly with a translucent powder, which I also snagged from Dollar Tree. Speaking of powder, the pressed powder I found was a lifesaver for mattifying and setting everything in place. Brows were surprisingly easy! Dollar Tree often has brow pencils or even small brow kits. I found a simple brown pencil that did the job for filling in sparse areas. It wasn't fancy, but it got the job done. For eyes, I grabbed a small eyeshadow palette – usually with neutral tones. While the pigmentation wasn't intense, it was buildable. I always recommend using an eyeshadow primer if you have one, even with high-end shadows, but for this challenge, I just used a dab of the stick concealer as a base. I also managed to find a decent black liquid eyeliner, which was a pleasant surprise! Mascara is where I often splurge, but the L.A. Colors mascara I found was surprisingly adequate for adding some length and volume without clumping too much. It's not going to give you dramatic false lash effects, but for an everyday look, it held its own. Now, for the fun part: blush and highlight! Finding a blush that wasn't too bright or chalky was a bit of a challenge, but I discovered a cream blush stick that blended out nicely with my fingers. For a highlight, I actually used a shimmery white eyeshadow from one of the palettes – multi-tasking is key when you're on a budget! Finally, lips! Dollar Tree always has a huge selection of lip glosses and lipsticks. I went for a nude-pink lipstick and topped it with a clear gloss. The longevity wasn't amazing, but the color payoff was decent for just $1.25. My biggest takeaway from this full face using dollar tree cosmetics & tools ONLY challenge? You can create a wearable look, especially if you're strategic with your product choices and application. It might take a bit more effort and creativity, but for those looking to save money or just have fun experimenting, it's definitely an interesting way to explore budget beauty. Remember, it's all about technique and managing expectations. Not every product will be a winner, but finding those hidden gems is part of the fun! And hey, for less than $20 for a whole face, it’s a pretty impressive feat in my book!
