My dad made the best purchase when Barkley was a pup. He got him a training collar that comes with a remote for the owner to use. The collars usually have 3 functions- ring bell, vibration, shock that feels like a TENS unit on us. We use the first two. If he gets “lost” when he is exploring our large property in East TN, if he won’t stay out of the trash, and things like that, we ring his bell. I have only used the shock option when he or a person is in danger, and when he bit me when I took something away from him. He’s had it since he was a pup so now most of the time all we have to do is say we’re getting the remote & he will obey. The collar has to come off at bedtime bc it has a prong type thing that sticks in his throat a little for the shocking feature, but it doesn’t hurt or go too far in. Labs are so much fun! I have some pics of him & his toys on my page. I hope you have a ton of fun with Bear! BTW, he will likely need toys for rough dogs. I’m pretty sure I have info up about that. Comment any time to ask me a question or anything!

Oh my goodness! I love labs! He is adorable!!! There have been 4 labs in life. My daughter currently has a chocolate boy who just turned 3, and my brother’s black lab turned 10 last week. My 13 year old brown girl passed during COVID. My dad had a black lab for a long time too. They all have their own personalities, but my daughter’s amazes me every day. It could also be bc he’s the first one to be an inside dog.
