MUST VISIT budget friendly countries ✈️💰

i’ve traveled to over 30 countries, so i thought i would share a few of the most budget friendly countries i’ve been to!! these places are all great to travel to when u r young as well because there’s so many activities to do while u’re there!

Malaysia

•malaysia primarily has 3 different ethnic groups so there’s so many food options and all r cheap + delish! they also have some of the most beautiful views i’ve ever seen. in the city there’s beautiful architecture, and just a couples hours away u can drive to some of the most beautiful mountains or beaches.

Vietnam

•vietnam has to be one of the cheapest and most affordable countries i’ve ever been to. the food is so amazing in both the north and the south, plus so many different scenic areas to visit.

Indonesia

•indonesian food has to be one of my fav types of food! and u can get it here for so cheap! if u stay in the touristy areas u can also get western food and a decent price compared to the states! i love the slow paced life here so much.

Türkiye

•turkey has some of the most beautiful desert views i’ve ever seen! u can go in a hot air balloon or even ride around in a 4-wheeler to explore. the locals r very welcoming and gave me so much free chai at several restaurants to welcome me! it’s also a great place for shopping!

Philippines

•the philippines is filled with so much beautiful natures on its islands!! if u like to go out there’s a really good night life scene in manila! also the food here is incredibly cheap, only a few dollar per meal!

... Read moreIt's absolutely true that seeing the world doesn't have to drain your savings, especially when you're young and eager to explore! I've been fortunate enough to visit over 30 countries, and some of my most cherished memories come from places where my money stretched the furthest. If you're wondering what destinations combine adventure and affordability for young travelers, you're in the right place. These countries are perfect if you're looking for an epic trip on a shoestring budget. One of the biggest lessons I learned early on is that food is your best friend when it comes to saving money. In places like Vietnam and Malaysia, street food isn't just cheap; it's an authentic culinary adventure. Forget fancy restaurants; embrace the bustling hawker stalls and local warungs. You can often get a delicious, filling meal for just a few dollars. My personal favorite in Vietnam was the endless variety of pho and banh mi – you can literally eat like royalty for less than $5 a day! Similarly, in Indonesia, exploring local markets for fresh produce and trying out family-run eateries can lead to incredible flavors and even better prices than tourist-heavy spots. For accommodation, hostels are a young traveler's dream. They're not only budget-friendly but also fantastic for meeting like-minded adventurers. Many hostels in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, offer incredible value with clean rooms, social common areas, and sometimes even free breakfast or activities. I've found some amazing deals by booking a few weeks in advance, especially during peak season. Don't overlook guesthouses either, which often provide a more local feel at a similar price point. When it comes to getting around, embrace public transportation. Buses and local trains are incredibly cheap and offer a glimpse into daily life that you just don't get from taxis. In urban centers like Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, their public transport system is efficient and affordable. For shorter distances, ride-sharing apps like Grab (popular in Southeast Asia) can be a lifesaver. And of course, walking is free and often the best way to discover hidden gems! Let's talk about activities. You don't need expensive tours to have incredible adventures. These countries are packed with natural beauty and cultural experiences that are often free or very low cost. In the Philippines, island hopping can be surprisingly affordable if you arrange tours directly with local boat operators rather than through big agencies. The stunning beaches and snorkeling spots are priceless. Türkiye offers breathtaking desert views and ancient sites; while a hot air balloon ride might be a splurge, exploring the fairy chimneys on foot or a budget ATV tour offers incredible memories. Indonesia's slow-paced island life means days spent on the beach or hiking through rice paddies won't cost you much. Being "young & broke" doesn't mean compromising on experiences. It means being smart, open-minded, and ready to immerse yourself in the local culture. Learn a few basic phrases, bargain respectfully at markets, and always be open to new foods and spontaneous adventures. These five countries – Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Türkiye, and the Philippines – are truly gateways to unforgettable journeys without emptying your wallet. You'll come back with incredible stories, a richer perspective, and proof that travel is accessible to everyone.
