I was so inspired by Floki's character in Vikings that I just had to try capturing his essence in this detailed pencil drawing. It's truly fascinating how a character can leave such a mark on you! When I was working on this piece, I really focused on his intense gaze, trying to convey the depth and often conflicted soul of this incredible Viking character. You can see the man with a beard and dark markings under his eyes, a look iconic to Floki, and I even included a hint of his axe because it's such a part of his identity. Floki is anything but a simple character, and certainly not what most would call 'timid.' He's a visionary shipbuilder, a devout believer, and at times, a fierce warrior. His journey through the series is a rollercoaster of loyalty, betrayal, love, and profound loss. It's this complexity that makes him so compelling, and why so many of us are drawn to create fan art like this. While Floki isn't a game character, his kind of intricate personality would thrive in that medium. Imagine playing a character with his blend of craftiness, faith, and occasional wildness! Often, game developers and artists have to decide which traits to emphasize. Some characters are designed to be strong and fearless, while others might explore more nuanced emotions, perhaps even a hint of vulnerability that could be misconstrued as timidness. But even then, it usually serves a larger character arc. For me, capturing Floki's raw emotion was key.
