Oh my goodness, Costa Rica completely stole my heart! If you're dreaming of lush landscapes, incredible wildlife, and beaches that feel like a slice of paradise, you absolutely have to visit. I recently had the most unforgettable trip, and I'm so excited to share some of my favorite "places to go in Costa Rica" that I discovered along the way. First up, those incredible beaches! I was on a mission to find some hidden gems, and let me tell you, I succeeded. We stumbled upon what felt like a truly 'secret beach' – the kind with gentle waves and barely anyone around, perfect for just soaking in the sunset. Later, we visited Playa Bahía de los Piratas, which lived up to its name with a slightly wilder, adventurous feel. The sunsets there were absolutely mind-blowing, painting the sky in fiery oranges and purples across the ocean. And then there was Playa Minas, with its dramatic cloudy skies and rugged beauty, making for some truly unique photos. Each beach had its own unique vibe, but all offered that incredible sense of escape. My top tip for beach hopping? Rent a 4x4 if you can; some of the best spots are off the beaten path and worth the drive! Beyond the coast, our trip took a delicious turn at Hacienda Alsacia Coffee Farm. As a coffee lover, this was a dream come true! Walking through the vibrant murals depicting the coffee-making process and seeing the lush plants up close was fascinating. We enjoyed fresh coffee at their spacious cafe, overlooking expansive, verdant hills – truly an experience for all senses. It's not just a tour; it’s an immersive dive into Costa Rican culture and agriculture, and I learned so much about my morning brew. No trip to Costa Rica is complete without witnessing the majestic Arenal volcano. We stayed at the Montana de Fuego Hotel, and honestly, the views from our room were straight out of a postcard. Waking up to that panoramic sight of the lush, mountainous landscape, with the Arenal volcano majestically peeking through the clouds, was surreal. And after a day of exploring the surrounding area, there's nothing better than unwinding in a natural-style hot spring. The hotel had these incredible pools, surrounded by tropical plants and rocks, making for the most relaxing and rejuvenating experience. It felt like a spa day in the middle of a jungle! From the "places to go in Costa Rica" that took my breath away to the warmth of the 'Pura Vida' lifestyle, this trip was everything I hoped for and more. Don't forget to pack light, embrace the spontaneity, and always look up – you never know what incredible wildlife you might spot. Costa Rica truly has something for everyone, whether you're chasing adventure or seeking pure relaxation. I can't wait to go back!
