Pushing through the awkward…
I have always had anxiety about the gym. I see so many around me lifting more, looking better, and running faster than me. I restarted my fitness journey about two months ago now.
I’ve been pushing myself through the awkward phase of starting the gym and forcing myself to just focus on myself and why I’m there. 🙏
I’m there so strengthen my joints and muscles to reduce my fibromyalgia pains.
So I can play with my kids
So I can be active outside
So I can work
My biggest fear is letting my chronic conditions get the best of me. I will not be forced down

Starting a fitness journey can be daunting, especially if you struggle with anxiety or chronic conditions like fibromyalgia. Many people feel intimidated by the gym environment, comparing themselves to others and worrying about their progress. However, it's crucial to focus on personal goals and health rather than external comparisons. Incorporating strength training can be particularly beneficial for those suffering from fibromyalgia, as it helps build muscle strength, improves joint stability, and reduces pain. Activities such as yoga or pilates can also be excellent choices, as they promote flexibility and relaxation. Setting small, achievable goals can help maintain motivation and a positive mindset. Additionally, finding a supportive community or workout buddy can make a significant difference in your fitness journey. Sharing experiences with others who understand your challenges may help alleviate feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Whether you're looking to play with your kids or just be more active in daily life, remember that every step counts. Celebrating small victories can fuel your continued success and foster a healthier lifestyle that works for you.
