Learning to love my body
While I have now lost close to 30 lbs I still find it hard to love my body. I have a tummy from carrying two kids and having a c section for one of them. I have stretch marks, cellulite and my fibromyalgia causes bruises all over me. My body is beautifully and wonderfully made but my millennial mind of the 90s holds me back.
I still have stuck in my head that skinny is pretty. You need a flat tummy but be curvy too. I see all you beautiful women on here looking so damn confident and I want your confidence.
In today’s culture, learning to love one’s body can be difficult, influenced by societal standards of beauty. After losing weight, many still grapple with self-acceptance due to past beliefs that equate narrowness with attractiveness. To facilitate this journey, understanding the concept of body positivity is essential. It emphasizes that every body is beautiful, regardless of shape, size, or the presence of marks and scars that tell our stories. Many individuals, like myself, face challenges such as stretch marks, cellulite, and body pain from conditions like fibromyalgia. Recognizing that these marks are part of life is a vital step toward self-love. Moreover, connecting with communities and finding inspiration from confident individuals can uplift our spirits. Engaging on platforms such as Lemon8, where people actively share their journeys, can foster a sense of belonging. The hashtags #LoveYourself and #bodypositivity serve as reminders that we are not alone in our struggles. Together, we can create a supportive environment that embraces our differences and celebrates our personal journeys towards body acceptance.

This isn’t just the ‘millennial 90s mindset’, it’s truly a toxic mindset carrying well on in today. Wishing you love and recovery ❤️🩹
