🩷🕊️ The Grief You Can’t See Is Often the Heaviest. 🕊️🩷

Grief isn’t just crying.

Sometimes it looks like…

🤍 Smiling when you’re falling apart.

🌸 Showing up when you’d rather stay in bed.

💭 Laughing… then feeling guilty for laughing.

📅 Dreading birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries.

🌙 Sleepless nights and overwhelming thoughts.

💔 Missing someone in moments no one else notices.

People often see the tip of the iceberg.

They see,

“She’s doing okay.”

“He’s so strong.”

“They’re moving on.”

But beneath the surface is a pain that words can’t always explain.

The memories.

The loneliness.

The fear of forgetting.

The longing for just one more conversation.

The love that never stops. 🤍

Grief isn’t something you “get over.”

It’s something you learn to carry—with God’s help. ✝️

📖 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

If you’re grieving today, please remember this…

🌷 You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.

🤍 You don’t have to rush your healing.

🕊️ You don’t have to carry it alone.

Jesus sits with us in our sorrow. He collects every tear, hears every silent prayer, and never leaves our side.

Grief is not a sign that your faith is weak.

Sometimes it’s simply the evidence that you loved deeply. ❤️

As someone who recently lost my dad, this picture describes exactly how grief feels. Most people see me smiling, working, and posting… but they don’t see the waves that come without warning. If you’re walking through loss too, I want you to know you’re not alone. I’m praying for you today. 🤍🙏

... Read moreGrief often manifests in ways that others don’t perceive, much like the iceberg metaphor described in the article and image. From my own experience, the moments that seem simple on the outside—like smiling or showing up to daily tasks—can mask a turmoil beneath the surface. This hidden grief can be exhausting because it requires constant emotional labor to maintain a facade of strength while internally processing loss. One of the most challenging aspects of hidden grief is the guilt that can accompany moments of happiness or laughter. It creates an internal conflict, where feeling joy may seem like a betrayal of the lost loved one. However, allowing yourself to experience these moments without guilt is part of healing. It’s okay to laugh, cry, and feel both at different times. Anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays often amplify feelings of loneliness and longing. I’ve learned that planning small personal rituals during these times—like lighting a candle or writing a letter to your loved one—can provide comfort and a sense of connection. It’s about honoring the memory while gently navigating the day. The article also highlights the importance of faith and the assurance that you don’t have to carry grief alone. Personally, turning to spiritual support and community has been invaluable. Praying or meditating on comforting scriptures, such as Psalm 34:18, helps anchor me during waves of pain. It reassures me that grief is not a weakness, but rather evidence of deep love. Another practical insight from the grief iceberg is the impact on sleep and mental clarity. Sleepless nights and overwhelming thoughts are common struggles. In my journey, establishing a calming bedtime routine and reaching out for support when anxiety feels overpowering have been essential steps. Embracing grace and patience with yourself is crucial. There is no linear way to grieve, and each person’s timeline is unique. Being gentle with your heart means honoring your feelings without rushing the process or forcing yourself to 'move on.' If you are walking through grief, remember that carrying the unseen weight is a shared human experience. Connecting with others who understand can provide solace and strength. Whether through faith, supportive friends, or grief groups, you don’t have to face the journey alone. Healing happens step by step, with moments of struggle and peace intertwined.

Thank you for sharing this. I just lost my dad and I cannot stop crying from time to time. I have been one angry at times because people say they understand but they tell you that you’re crying too much. That makes me angry and want to lash out and tell them” just wait till your father dies and see how you feel then”. But I just say nothing and leave to cry alone. Other times I feel like I am a total burden and is better alone than to bring sadness around happy people or feel like I have to pretend to be happy when I am not. I hate crying alone. I hate having to always be alone. I hate not having my dad there to hold me and talk to me when I am sad. I am beginning a grief class with my church. I can actually say I have never fully grieved over a loved family member or friend. I am scared and afraid of what everyone will think of me. This is a new experience that I am not looking forward to but feel I should do it before I go insane with my constant alternating emotions. Please pray for me. Thanks again for this. It sparked something inside to that needed to read and hear it.
