Travel review: Disney World 🌍 Orlando, Florida

We visited Walt Disney World® Resort in our mid 20’s and it’s the first time I’ve been back to the parks since I was in elementary school! So much has changed, but it’s only become more incredible!

The food: We mostly ate in the parks or at our hotel which was also on park property - the food was hit or miss in my opinion. The buffet style hotel breakfast was good but not great. The snacks at the parks were my favorite! Lastly, the dinners were hit or miss too. The Boathouse was great! But the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant didn’t impress me much.

The accommodations: Our hotel was beautiful, spacious and comfortable! The bathroom was huge and the outdoor spaces on the property had pools and beach chairs around a small pond! The staff were very helpful and friendly too!

The parks: 10/10 all the parks were extremely impressive. The rides are seriously next level and true engineering masterpieces. They’re engaging, thrilling, and exciting! Disney spares no expense when it comes to the small details. Even while waiting in long lines there is entertainment in the form of characters and interactive experiences on the walls + ceilings!

... Read moreOkay, so let's talk food at Disney World in Orlando! It's such a huge part of the experience, and honestly, it can make or break your day if you're not prepared. As someone who just visited in my mid-20s, I found the culinary landscape to be a real adventure – a definite mix of magical bites and a few misses. My biggest takeaway? Snacks are king! You absolutely HAVE to try the churros; they're a classic for a reason, especially with a chocolate dipping sauce. And those pork bao buns? A game-changer, surprisingly delicious and a great quick bite. But don't stop there! Dole Whip from Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom is non-negotiable, and the giant pretzel with cheese sauce is perfect for sharing. These quick, on-the-go treats were often the highlight of our park eating, providing that perfect energy boost between rides. When it came to sit-down meals, we had some interesting experiences. While The Boathouse at Disney Springs was a clear winner – the seafood was fresh, and the atmosphere by the water was incredible for a date night – the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Hollywood Studios, despite its cool concept, just didn't deliver on taste. I felt like I was paying more for the experience than the food itself, making it a bit mediocre for the price. My advice? Research menus beforehand and read recent reviews carefully to manage your expectations! For hotel dining, our buffet breakfast was convenient but nothing extraordinary. If you’re staying on property, I’d suggest checking out specific hotel restaurants like Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge (known for its Indian-inspired cuisine and savanna views) or 'Ohana at Polynesian Village Resort (for a lively, family-style meal) for truly memorable experiences, rather than just the standard buffet fare. These often require reservations well in advance. A huge tip for saving money and staying hydrated: bring your own reusable water bottle! There are free water stations throughout the parks, and it makes a huge difference in the Florida heat. Also, consider packing a few of your favorite non-perishable snacks from home. While Disney has amazing options, having a granola bar or some fruit on hand can prevent impulse buys when hunger strikes between meals. If you're looking for unique dining, consider character dining experiences, even as an adult. While they can be pricey, the interaction with characters can be a lot of fun and a great photo opportunity. Just remember to book these 60 days out! Mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app is also a lifesaver for quick service spots, saving you precious time in lines. Finally, don't forget about seasonal food festivals, especially at Epcot! The Food & Wine Festival or Flower & Garden Festival offer an incredible array of international dishes and drinks that are often more gourmet and adventurous than standard park fare. It's a fantastic way to sample a lot of different flavors without committing to a full meal, making it perfect for adult palates looking for something beyond burgers and fries.
