Take the ferry in Switzerland - thank me later!🇨ðŸ‡
Taking a ferry ride in Switzerland feels like an excursion experience in itself! If you purchase the Swiss travel pass, all public transportation ferry rides are included!
After our long flight we were looking for something relaxing to do while trying to beat our jet-lag. The ferry was perfect because we were able to sit + relax inside which was warm and cozy while still enjoying all the gorgeous views. Plus they had delicious drinks and snacks for sale, including hot chocolate — which we ordered immediately!
We loved it so much that we ended up using the ferry as a form of transportation to explore different areas the entire time we were in Switzerland!

Since you loved hearing about my initial ferry experience in Switzerland, I wanted to share even more about how these incredible rides transformed my trip! Beyond just beating jet lag, I quickly realized that taking the ferry wasn't just transportation; it was an integral part of the Swiss adventure itself. One of my favorite discoveries was how accessible so many charming lakeside towns and 'island-like' destinations are by boat. For instance, on Lake Lucerne, we took a ferry from Lucerne to Weggis and then continued to Vitznau. Each stop offered unique perspectives, and it felt like hopping between little paradises. You can easily spend an afternoon exploring a new village, grabbing a local bite, and then hopping back on for another scenic stretch. It's truly a 'GREAT FORM OF TRANSPORTATION' for exploring beyond the main cities. Speaking of views, the OCR was spot on – those 'GORGEOUS VIEWS' are absolutely real! Whether it was the majestic Alps reflecting in the calm waters or picturesque chalets dotting the shoreline, every turn offered a postcard moment. I particularly loved finding a spot on the open deck, even if it was a bit chilly, to really soak it all in. But for those colder days, the 'WARM INTERIOR' was a lifesaver, especially with a hot drink in hand. For anyone wondering about maximizing their 'ferry rides' experience, here are a few personal tips: Go Early or Late: The early morning rides often offer misty, serene views, while late afternoon rides can treat you to stunning sunsets over the mountains. Plus, they tend to be less crowded. Swiss Travel Pass is a Must: Seriously, having all those public transportation ferry rides included takes away all the stress of buying tickets and lets you hop on and off freely. It's a game-changer! Pack Snacks (or Enjoy Onboard): While many ferries offer snacks and drinks, I always like to have a little something of my own. But don't miss out on their hot chocolate – it’s a staple! Look for Connecting Activities: Many ferry stops are perfect starting points for short hikes or walks. For the more 'athlete'-minded travelers, it’s a fantastic way to reach trailheads without needing a car. We often disembarked and went for a brisk walk along the lake, then caught the next ferry to another spot. It’s an active yet relaxing way to see more of the country. Another tip: don't just stick to one lake! We explored Lake Thun and Lake Brienz near Interlaken, and the scenery is completely different but equally breathtaking. On Lake Thun, you can visit castles right on the water, while Lake Brienz is known for its incredibly turquoise water. Each lake has its own charm and 'nearby island-like' stops that are well worth exploring. It's a fantastic way to experience the diversity of 'Riding the ferry in SWITZERLAND' and create unforgettable travel memories. Trust me, you'll thank me later!
