Cautionary Tale: The Hidden Dangers of Running 🚫🏃
I have the ultimate proof about how dangerous it is to run. I'm going to tell you the story and show you the receipts, but only if you promise not to run.
Promise!
This is a serious public health warning ⚠️
So here we go...
I had to get some injections in May and again in September to help with the pain in my tailbone.
It happens occasionally.
I deal with it.
It's how one survives the trauma of a serious car accident.
Lots of fun!
Unfortunately, the injections automically spike my blood sugar every time.
I'm still fighting to get them down so I don't have to go back on synthetic medicine. I've made it two years with exercise and supplements, and I'm so proud of that.
So, being the proactive person I have become, I have been consistently using my elliptical. Totes harmless.
Like a slow walk.
No problem!
But then I got a call, and I ran around the corner to my neighbor (not their fault. They didn't require a run. I broke my own rule).
Now I can't bend my knee.
So back to the pain specialist and bam. "You most likely have a torn meniscus."
So, mri in my future.
But I used my trusted scanner and yikes, I know it's not a diagnosis, but it's sure leaning towards the torn meniscus.
The scan shows low function (1) on the meniscus and fibular ligament. Also, inflammation (10) in the fibular collateral bursa.
It will be interesting to see what the mri shows.
So seriously guys, gals, stop running 🏃♂️
I'm fine, just a slight gangster limp, and ouch, if I try to bend it.
Meanwhile, adding holistic support and hoping the words she spoke are not in my future 😕
I'll never run again (unless something is chasing me). I'm down for a brisk walk, but that's it!
Stay tuned!
Let's see if my new skills can help me fix this error in judgment.
Why did I run? 🙈
Everyone knows I'm totally against it!
Running is often viewed as a healthy activity, but it can lead to serious injuries if not approached cautiously. Common injuries among runners include knee problems, shin splints, and stress fractures. A torn meniscus, as highlighted in this cautionary tale, is a significant concern for many fitness enthusiasts. Proper warm-up routines and strength training are essential in preventing such injuries. Incorporating cross-training, like cycling or swimming, can reduce the strain on joints while maintaining cardiovascular health. It's crucial to listen to your body and consult healthcare professionals if you experience persistent pain. Many runners also underestimate the importance of appropriate footwear and running surfaces. Wearing the right shoes can significantly affect your biomechanics and reduce injury risk. Always consider your individual physical condition and gradually increase your running distance to allow your body to adapt. Prioritizing these strategies can help ensure a safer and more enjoyable running experience.

Oh no!!! I’m wishing you a speedy recovery!
