Avocado Oil
Cayenne Pepper
Turmeric
Kinders Garlic & Herb Seasoning
Kinders Butter Steakhouse Seasoning
Flour
Corn Starch
Sweet Heat Dipping Sauce:
5 Tbsp Plant-Base Mayo
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1 Tbsp Hot Sauce (I used Crystal but you can use whatever hot sauce you like)
1 Tbsp Sriracha
Same seasonings to taste
Now every one say don’t rinse your mushrooms, but it’s a habit for me… so clean the mushrooms as you prefer (paper towel method OR wash and allow them to air dry)
Drizzle Olive Oil on mushrooms and massage on all sides
Seasoning with Cayenne Pepper, Turmeric, Kinders Buttery Garlic and Herb, Kinders Butter Steakhouse.
Massage and set aside in fridge for 30 minutes.
Wet Base:
5 Tablespoons of Flour
Same seasonings
Water (enough for a we but not runny/ soupy batter)
Stir together and set aside
Dry Base:
3/4 Flour (eyeball according to how much Oyster Mushrooms you are making)
1/4 Corn Starch
Same Seasonings
Stir together and set aside
Now the fun begins. Get your marinated Oyster Mushrooms from the fridge. Individually place the mushrooms into to wet batter (but not to over crowd). Cover with mixture, allow to drip and place into the dry base. Cover with mixture and place battered mushrooms to the side.
In a skillet, drizzle Avocado Oil enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Place mushrooms in (do not let the mushrooms over crowd) and allow them to shallow fry for 5 minutes on both sides or until golden brown.
Remove from skillet and place on paper towel. (Optional: Squeeze lemon juice on them as the are coming up)
Sweet Heat Dipping Sauce:
Add 3-5 tablespoons of Plant-Based Mayo to a bowl (depending on how much sauce you need). Add 2 squirts of Sriracha (feel free to add as much spice as you like) as well as 3 pumps of hot sauce (Again, depending upon your spice level, feel free to add more or less). Lastly, pour 1 tablespoons of Maple syrup and stir.
Enjoy and Follow for more simple but delicious recipes!!!
Please note, these measurements are based upon 1 cluster of Oyster Mushrooms. If you have more clusters, please adjust accordingly.

Okay, so you’ve tried my super simple shallow-fried oyster mushroom recipe, and hopefully, you loved that incredible crunch and flavor! Many of you might be wondering about a healthier or quicker alternative, and that’s where the air fryer comes in. It’s a total game-changer for getting that same irresistible crispiness with less oil. Let me walk you through how I make my oyster mushrooms perfectly crispy in the air fryer, building on the delicious flavors from my original recipe. Why Air Fry Oyster Mushrooms? I just love my air fryer for so many reasons when it comes to snacks like these! It’s fantastic for achieving that golden-brown, crunchy texture without the need for a lot of oil. Plus, it’s usually quicker and less messy than traditional frying. If you’re looking to cut down on fats but still crave that satisfying crisp, this method is definitely for you! Ingredients for Air Fried Oyster Mushrooms: Oyster Mushrooms (I usually use about one cluster per batch) Olive Oil Spray (or another high-heat cooking spray) Cayenne Pepper Turmeric Kinders Garlic & Herb Seasoning Kinders Butter Steakhouse Seasoning All-Purpose Flour Corn Starch Water (for the wet base) My Air Fryer Method for Crispy Oyster Mushrooms: Prep Your Mushrooms: Just like with the shallow-fried version, I like to clean my oyster mushrooms, either by gently wiping them with a paper towel or giving them a quick rinse and letting them air dry completely. Getting them dry is key for crispiness, so don’t skip this step! Season & Marinate (Optional but Recommended): Tear your oyster mushrooms into bite-sized pieces. Drizzle them with just a tiny bit of olive oil (or a few sprays of your oil spray) and then generously season with Cayenne Pepper, Turmeric, Kinders Buttery Garlic and Herb, and Kinders Butter Steakhouse. Massage the seasonings in well. I still love to let them sit in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes to really absorb those flavors – it makes a difference! Prepare Your Bases: Wet Base: In a bowl, mix about 4-5 tablespoons of flour with a dash of the same seasonings you used for the mushrooms. Gradually add water, stirring until you have a thick, but not runny, batter. Think pancake batter consistency. This will help the dry coating stick. Dry Base: In another bowl, combine about 3/4 cup of flour with 1/4 cup of corn starch and a good sprinkle of your favorite seasonings (Cayenne, Turmeric, Kinders). Corn starch is my secret for extra crispiness in the air fryer! Batter Up! Take your marinated mushrooms. Dip each piece into the wet batter, letting any excess drip off. Then, transfer it to the dry base, ensuring it’s fully coated. Gently shake off any loose flour mixture. Place the coated mushrooms on a plate or baking sheet while you continue with the rest. Air Frying Time! Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This helps ensure even cooking and immediate crisping. Lightly spray the bottom of your air fryer basket with olive oil spray. Arrange the coated mushrooms in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the basket. Overcrowding leads to steaming, not crisping! Lightly spray the tops of the mushrooms with olive oil spray. This is crucial for that golden, crispy exterior. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through and spraying again if needed, until they are beautifully golden brown and super crispy. Cooking times can vary based on your air fryer model, so keep an eye on them! My Top Tips for Extra Crispy Air Fryer Oyster Mushrooms: Don't Overcrowd: This is the golden rule of air frying. Work in batches if you need to! Pat Dry: Make sure your mushrooms are as dry as possible before seasoning and battering. Oil Spray is Your Friend: A light, even coating of oil spray before and during cooking is essential for crispiness. Shake or Flip: Make sure all sides get exposed to the hot air by shaking the basket or flipping the mushrooms. Serve these air-fried beauties with the Sweet Heat Dipping Sauce from my original recipe – it pairs perfectly! Whether you prefer shallow-fried or air-fried, I hope you enjoy this delicious, plant-based treat. Let me know which method you try!
