... Read moreAs someone with oily skin, I totally get the struggle of trying to keep your makeup looking fresh, especially during those hot summer events! I used to dread seeing my perfectly applied foundation slide away, but after a lot of trial and error, I’ve finally nailed down a routine that genuinely keeps everything locked in. It’s not just about the products; it’s also about how you use them! First things first, skincare is your secret weapon. You might think oily skin doesn't need much moisture, but that's a common misconception! Dehydrated oily skin can actually produce more oil to compensate. That's why I start with The Ordinary Niacinamide serum – it's brilliant for refining pores and balancing oil production without stripping your skin. Following that, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturizer is a game-changer. It provides lightweight hydration that sinks in fast, leaving no greasy residue, which is crucial before makeup. Now for the base! A good primer is non-negotiable. The ONE/SIZE BEAUTY Secure the Blur Primer creates a fantastic smooth canvas and helps blur imperfections, but more importantly, it creates a barrier that helps your foundation adhere better and prevents excess oil from breaking through. Apply it sparingly, focusing on your T-zone and any other areas where you tend to get shiny. For foundation, I absolutely swear by NARS Cosmetics Soft Matte Foundation. This stuff is a miracle worker for oily skin! It offers amazing coverage without feeling heavy or caky, and it truly stays matte for hours. When applying, I like to use a damp beauty sponge or a dense foundation brush and press the product into my skin rather than just swiping. This technique helps it meld with your skin for a longer-lasting finish. Start with a thin layer and build up coverage only where you need it to avoid a heavy look. Setting powder is the next critical step. Huda Beauty Pound Cake Translucent Powder is my holy grail. After applying foundation and concealer, I lightly 'bake' my T-zone and under-eyes. This means pressing a generous amount of powder into those areas with a damp sponge and letting it sit for a few minutes before dusting off the excess with a fluffy brush. It really helps to absorb oil and prevent creasing throughout the day. Finally, the setting spray! I actually use two for maximum staying power. I start with the ONE/SIZE BEAUTY On Til Dawn Setting Spray right after powdering. This spray is powerful and creates a strong film that really locks everything in. Then, for a more refined finish and added longevity, I follow up with a light mist of Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray. This combination ensures my makeup doesn't budge, even through dancing and humid summer evenings. So, if you're battling shine and meltdown, give this routine a try – you won't be disappointed!
