On today’s episode of figuring it out as a stay at work mom, the babe had a 2+ hour nap while I completed payroll, bookkeeping, updated new inventory, and restocked our best seller pearl huggies! Some days are productive, others are definitely not, but I’m grateful to be here ✨ I’ve always wanted to have my own shop and often feel like I’m filling big shoes that both my mom and grandma set for me growing up. Mom had me coming to the salon with her for as long as I could remember, and I loved earning tips for sweeping hair and checking in customers. Before the war, grandma owned a thriving retail business in Vietnam with all of her kids either strapped on her back or keeping busy in a play pen. I still can’t register how she did it with 5 little ones! Thank you to my amazing team for rolling with the punches of having a toddler on board 🙃 Teamwork truly makes the dream work!!

From my own journey, I've learned that maintaining flexibility and creating routines that fit both my family and business needs are essential. For instance, capitalizing on moments like my toddler’s 2+ hour naps allows me to focus on critical tasks such as payroll, bookkeeping, and inventory management without distraction. One of the key lessons I’ve embraced is the importance of teamwork—not just within my immediate support system but also with my business team. Having people who understand the unpredictability of parenting life and are willing to adapt creates a resilient work environment where productivity thrives despite occasional disruptions. Drawing inspiration from my mom and grandma, who each ran successful businesses under challenging circumstances, fuels my determination. My grandma managed a retail business in Vietnam while caring for five young children—a feat that still amazes me and serves as a powerful reminder of what’s possible with grit and support. Additionally, I’ve found that integrating elements of personal passion into the business, like focusing on popular items such as pearl huggies, keeps the venture both exciting and customer-focused. This not only drives sales but also aligns closely with my vision of owning a shop that reflects my unique style and legacy. Entrepreneurship as a stay-at-work mom demands patience and adaptability. Remembering to celebrate small wins on productive days and showing grace on less productive ones has helped me maintain a positive mindset. Sharing these experiences honestly has connected me with other working parents who face similar challenges and triumphs, creating a community that uplifts and inspires.
