I didn’t know this would happen 🤦🏼‍♀️

TL;DR - until I was a mom, I didn’t realize I wanted more than two kids 💕

All my life when asked how many kids I wanted, I’d answer confidently, “Two would be perfect. But I’d be okay with one.”

And then I had my first baby. And that answer changed. My partner and I were so overwhelmed with love and loved being parents and loved the idea of a big family and we quickly became pregnant again six months later.

Then after he was born, we found ourselves pregnant AGAIN eight months later.

We then became pregnant with our last one nine months after our third was born. At that point, we realized we were done (for now), and content with our family size.

Having four kids can be sooo difficult (especially with them all being four or younger), but it is also so rewarding and I love my babies so so much. ❤️

Many parents start with a defined plan for family size, yet the experience of motherhood often reshapes these expectations. The evolution in family dynamics begins with overwhelming love and attachment, which can lead to unplanned expansions in family size. Embracing a larger family can bring unique challenges, such as managing the demands of young children and the complexity of schedules. However, it also allows for rich, fulfilling experiences and memories that can strengthen family bonds. Resources for navigating these new hurdles, like parenting forums and support groups, can offer assistance and advice. Furthermore, acknowledging the personal journey and changes in family planning can help mothers and fathers find community and connection in their parenting journeys. Sharing stories about the unpredictability of parenting allows parents to feel validated in their experiences and recognize the beauty of adapting to life’s surprises.

Did you ever feel guilty? We were trying for our second and we are now expecting. My daughter is 8 months so she will be so little. I feel like I’m taking her baby years away. I don’t know how to deal with the guilt and worry I won’t be able to give my best to both babies
