people make EXCUSES because they don’t want to change their future. i’m sometimes people lol but today was a great example of doing the opposite!
Everyone faces moments when they just don’t feel up to tackling their goals, especially when sickness hits. I’ve learned that pushing through those excuses can be incredibly rewarding. For instance, even when I felt like I was coming down with something—coughing and a tickling throat—I reminded myself that I had three auditions lined up. One required mastering a British RP accent, another called for Swedish tones, and both demanded a balance of realism and heightened emotion. At first, I wanted to cancel and just rest, but I chose instead to push past that hesitation. I took a short nap, gathered my strength, and stepped into the challenge. That decision not only helped me grow as a performer but also opened doors for new opportunities. It was a personal win that reminded me excuses are just barriers we create for ourselves. If you’re feeling hesitant about pursuing your dreams—whether due to health, fear, or discomfort—consider what you might miss if you don’t take action. Every small step you take, even on tough days, helps build momentum. Setting aside excuses allows room for growth and unexpected chances. So next time you feel stuck, try shifting your mindset. Think about where you want to be and how each action, no matter how small, brings you closer there. As I experienced, sometimes the best moments come when you push yourself beyond your limits, even if it means auditioning while feeling sick. Keep going—you never know what opportunity awaits just beyond that moment of doubt.
