From my personal experience living in Australia as a Nepali immigrant, I’ve found that the strongest bonds within our community arise when we focus on shared values rather than division. It’s essential to see ourselves first as Nepalis living together in a multicultural society, where cooperation and kindness transcend any political identity or party lines. Participating in community events, cultural festivals, and social gatherings has helped me and many others feel connected and supported. Being part of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) or other community groups provides platforms where we can contribute positively without being constrained by politics. This unity helps us navigate challenges such as homesickness, cultural integration, and professional opportunities. Respecting each other’s viewpoints while promoting a collective Nepali identity in Australia strengthens our social fabric. It encourages younger generations to embrace their heritage proudly without conflict. By sharing stories, traditions, and mutual support, we build a community ready to thrive together. In essence, living as one is about upliftment, not division.
