dark hockey romance that's 🥵🥵
y'all I'm obsessed with brutal game by jo brenner!
it's absolutely the best dark romance I've read in a while!! it's a little like god of malice and brutal obsession had a baby, but jack is slightly less psycho than killian and infinitely more likable than greyson.
aviva transfers schools to uncover what happened to her brother while he was on the hockey team there... jack, who's the current star hockey player, is determined to out her as a liar. I loved how down bad they were for each other when they didn't want to be, especially jack!
this book was hot af 🥵🥵🥵 and there is an interesting use of hockey equipment 🏒 I definitely recommend checking the content warnings though because this is definitely a *dark* romance. I loved every bit of this though, and honestly have already read it more than once (which is a super rarity for me)!
if you're into dark romance + hockey romance, read this book!! it's on Kindle Unlimited, and there's a discreet paperback too if that's more your vibe! #hockeyromancebooks #darkromance #spicyromance #darkromancebooks #BookReview
After devouring 'Brutal Game' by Jo Brenner, I just have to share more about why this dark hockey romance left such a strong impression on me. It's not just another spicy read; it perfectly captures the angst and intensity I crave in my books. When I first saw the cover, I was intrigued by the promise of a gripping story, and it absolutely delivered. One thing that often comes up with 'dark romances' is the level of intensity, and 'Brutal Game' doesn't shy away from it. The author, Jo Brenner, masterfully weaves a tale of secrets, revenge, and undeniable attraction. What makes it 'dark' isn't just the morally gray characters, but the deep psychological games and the high stakes involved. Aviva's mission to uncover the truth about her brother's past on the hockey team throws her directly into Jack's orbit – a star player who is as compelling as he is dangerous. Their dynamic is pure enemies-to-lovers gold, brimming with tension that keeps you glued to the pages. The way their animosity slowly melts into a fierce, almost primal connection is truly captivating, embodying what makes 'hottest' dark romances so addictive. The hockey aspect isn't just window dressing here; it's intricately woven into the plot, influencing character motivations and creating a high-pressure environment. The competitive nature of the sport mirrors the emotional battles between Aviva and Jack. It adds an extra layer of grit and raw emotion that elevates the story beyond a typical romance. If you're searching for a 'Hockey Romance' that delivers on both the athletic backdrop and scorching chemistry, this book is a prime example. Speaking of intensity, it's always important to remember that 'dark romances' often come with significant content warnings. While 'Brutal Game' is incredibly engaging, I always recommend checking specific warnings before diving in. This ensures you're prepared for any potentially sensitive themes that might appear, allowing you to fully enjoy the story without unexpected discomfort. Personally, I found the handling of the darker elements to be well-executed and purposeful, adding depth to the narrative rather than just shock value. If you, like me, are now on the hunt for more reads that hit that perfect 'dark hockey romance' sweet spot, here are a few tips. Look for books tagged with 'college sports romance,' 'revenge plot,' 'morally gray hero,' or 'forced proximity.' Authors who excel in this subgenre often create intricate plots where the romance is born out of conflict and secrets, making every page turn a thrilling experience. 'Brutal Game by Jo Brenner' has definitely set a high bar for my future reads in this category!
