tips for cramming for finals
Listen no one wants to be in the spot where you are cramming for finals. It is always better to set yourself up to where you have plenty of time and have a solid plan, but sometimes life happens and you have to cram. If you do find yourself in that situation, here are my tips.
You need to get straight to do problems, or whatever the alternative is for the type of exam you are taking. Reading your notes page for page and going through the class power points is great, but not when you are in a time crunch. Instead turn to these to fill in areas that you need help on that you identify when doing problems.
Reduce distractions as much as you can. Go on DND delete apps that distract you, whatever you have to do to hone in.
Get a good night's rest. No matter what, sleep before your exam, do not try to pull an all nighter than walk into your exam. At least this never works for me.
Study by yourself. I have other posts talking about this in more detail, but I truthfully think this is the best thing to do when you're in a time crunch especially.

When facing finals, cramming can often feel overwhelming, yet it doesn't have to be detrimental to your performance. Start by focusing on practice problems to quickly identify weak areas. Use your notes and textbooks sparingly to clarify these gaps rather than for extensive review. It's essential to limit distractions; consider using 'Do Not Disturb' modes or deleting apps that divert your attention. Additionally, prioritize sleep. A well-rested mind is far more adept at recalling information than a fatigued one. Studies show that even short naps can enhance memory retention. Finally, studying alone can help you concentrate better compared to group settings, which can increase anxiety and unproductive comparisons. Embrace these strategies, and you'll find yourself more confident and prepared as you head into your exams.
