Simple habits that support me as a new mom 🤍✨

Being a mom is not easy, but I’ve been trying to use my limited free time to create new habits that will make my days positive and easier as a first time mom.

A lot of these new habits are simple things that might not be important for some before you become a mom. However, I’ve learned that the smallest things do matter and they can make a difference on how we prepare for a new day. For example, making my bed each morning reminds me that I at least completed one task that day!

... Read moreWhen you become a new mom, everyone talks about baby schedules – from 'Moms on Call' to sleep training guides. And trust me, I totally get why! Having a routine for your little one, especially during that intense first 12 months, can feel like the holy grail of parenting. But what about our schedule? What about the mom who's trying to keep it all together? I quickly realized that while a baby's schedule is crucial for their development, my own personal routine was just as vital for my survival and sanity. These aren't strict, hour-by-hour plans like a 'Moms on Call 12 month schedule' for baby, but rather simple, consistent habits that create a foundation for a positive postpartum experience. They help me navigate the unpredictable nature of motherhood, especially through that whirlwind first year. Let's talk about those 'SIX NEW MOM HABITS' that have been game-changers for me. First, making my bed every morning. It sounds trivial, right? But that small act of completion sets a positive tone for my whole day. Even if the rest of the day goes sideways, I've already achieved one thing. It's a mental win that helps me feel a bit more in control when so much else feels out of my hands. Then there's getting ready every single day. Even if it's just putting on decent loungewear and brushing my hair, it makes a huge difference. It's not about looking perfect, but about signaling to myself that I'm ready for the day ahead. This simple habit helps combat that 'stuck in pajamas all day' feeling that can creep into new mom life, boosting my mood and confidence. Consuming healthy meals is another non-negotiable. With a newborn, it's so easy to grab whatever's quick. But fueling my body properly gives me the energy I desperately need. I've learned to prep quick, nutritious options or accept help with meals, because a well-fed mom is a happier, more resilient mom. This is especially important when you're trying to keep up with a baby's feeding schedule! And here's a big one: doing something that I enjoy during my baby's nap time instead of cleaning. Seriously, laundry can wait! That OCR text captured it perfectly. It's about prioritizing self-care. Whether it's reading a chapter of a book, listening to a podcast, or just sitting quietly with a cup of tea, these small moments of joy are essential for recharging. They prevent burnout and help me show up better for my baby. Finally, the idea of romanticizing mundane activities and finding ways to stay busy! This doesn't mean over-scheduling, but rather finding beauty and purpose in the everyday. Maybe it's enjoying the warmth of my coffee while baby naps, or a quick walk outside to clear my head. These habits create a personal 'schedule' of well-being that complements any baby-focused routine. They are my anchors through the beautiful chaos of the first year, helping me maintain a positive postpartum experience no matter what surprises my little one brings.
