He looks beautiful now —
but this isn’t how his story began.
Samson came off that trailer in September right into the direct-ship pen barely holding himself together. His face was torn open, his eyes were swollen shut, and the pain he was standing in was unbearable to even look at.
We fought to heal him.
We fought to give him a life he was never going to get if he stayed there.
His right eye ended up having to be removed because the damage was that severe. Yet somehow… the gentle horse underneath all that trauma never left.
Today you’re seeing the version of Samson who loves attention and leans into the people who care for him. The version who’s sound, riding, and so well trained that he surprises everyone who meets him. The only thing he hesitates on is his blind side — and that trust will come with time.
He is going to make someone an INCREDIBLE partner, and he’ll be part of our lease program launching in January.
But right now, we are still trying to get 15 more horses out of the same pipeline Samson came from, and we have $29,649 left to raise.
If you want to get involved, details are in our stories + the link in our Instagram profile.
Please keep sharing these reels.
Please keep showing up.

Watching Samson's transformation has been a humbling experience, and it truly highlights the resilience and spirit of mustangs. When I first heard about his severe injuries—his face torn open, swollen eyes, and the loss of one eye—I couldn’t imagine how a horse could recover, let alone thrive. But the dedication of the rescue team and the gentleness of Samson himself showed me just how much love and patience can heal. From my own encounters with rescued horses, I’ve learned that trust doesn't happen overnight, especially for those like Samson who have faced trauma. The hesitation he shows on his blind side is a natural response, but with consistent, gentle handling and training, many horses can overcome these fears and bond deeply with their caregivers. The concept of a lease program is particularly exciting because it opens doors for more people to experience the joy of partnering with these incredible horses without the full commitment of ownership. It’s a wonderful way to support ongoing rehabilitation efforts and give these animals a chance at a new life. It’s also worth noting the urgency of rescuing more horses from the same pipeline Samson came from. With nearly $30,000 still needed to help 15 more horses, every bit of support counts. Sharing stories and reels like these not only raises awareness but also connects communities passionate about animal welfare. If you’re considering supporting mustang rescues or getting involved with lease programs, I recommend following rescuer updates closely and engaging with them on social media. The link in their Instagram bio is a great place to find detailed information on how you can help—whether through donations, fostering, or spreading the word. In all, Samson’s story is a powerful reminder that with kindness, resilience, and community support, even the most wounded lives can find hope and healing.
