These two were literally just brought in and sold to the kill pen— ran off the trailer, straight to the weigh station, a price was given to the man, and a hand was shook— sealing their fate. I watched as they tagged and chipped them right in front of me. About as fast as it happened I said ‘add them to my list!’
The grey mare is so crippled it’s painful to watch her try to keep up with her older friend. Her feet are so rotated and foundered — who knows how long she has been living like this?! Can you imagine. Every day living in agony all while just simply trying to survive. My heart breaks for her.
The senior pony is SO sweet— you just know he was someone’s kids pony. He’s only ever known family, love and companionship — until today. Until he was sold to the Kill Pen— for nothing more than what? Maybe $.50 a pound?
