My recent trip to Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico was an absolute dream! If you're looking for an authentic Mexican experience away from the super touristy spots, this charming town in the Altos de Jalisco region is a must-visit. I was so excited to explore everything Arandas had to offer, and honestly, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped foot En Arandas Jalisco Mex, I felt a warm, welcoming vibe that instantly made me feel at home. As you might guess from my earlier post, I definitely ate my way through Arandas! And let me tell you, the food scene here is incredible. You absolutely have to try the birria – it's a regional specialty, and I found some amazing spots serving it with fresh tortillas and spicy salsa. Don't forget to sample the carnitas too; they're melt-in-your-mouth delicious. For breakfast, look for local fondas serving chilaquiles or huevos rancheros. And of course, being in Jalisco, tequila is king! While Arandas itself isn't a primary tequila-producing town like Tequila, many local establishments offer excellent selections, and you can learn about the history of agave spirits. I loved discovering small family-run eateries where the flavors were just bursting with authenticity. Every meal felt like a celebration. Beyond the delicious food, Arandas has a rich culture and beautiful sights. The centerpiece is definitely the Parroquia de San José Obrero, a stunning neo-gothic church that dominates the skyline. Spend some time just walking around the main plaza, people-watching, and soaking in the relaxed atmosphere. The local markets are fantastic for picking up fresh produce, local crafts, and trying some regional sweets – I found some incredible cajeta (caramelized goat's milk) that I still dream about! If you're interested in the agricultural side of Jalisco, driving through the agave fields surrounding Arandas is a breathtaking experience, especially at sunset. It really gives you a sense of the land and its traditions. Getting around Arandas is pretty easy; the town is walkable, and taxis are readily available for longer distances. I found the locals to be incredibly friendly and eager to share their town with visitors. A little Spanish goes a long way, but even with basic phrases, you'll feel welcomed. The best time to visit, in my opinion, is during the dry season (November to May) when the weather is pleasant for exploring. Don't be afraid to wander off the main streets; some of the best discoveries are made in the quieter neighborhoods. Arandas really felt like a hidden gem, offering a genuine slice of Mexican life. My time in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico was truly unforgettable. It's a place that captivates you with its flavors, its history, and its warm-hearted people. If you're planning a trip to this part of Mexico, definitely put Arandas on your itinerary. You won't regret experiencing this charming, vibrant town.
