Come feed my puppy dinner with me 🐾 ✨!
Here’s how I make my spoiled girl’s dinner every night 🥹🐶🍽️
(She’s a Staffordshire Terrier mix, about 4 years old & between 30–50 lbs, and currently recovering from an ACL tear 🤍)
I measure out 2 cups of her homemade food, warm it up in a measuring cup in the microwave, then add it to her bowl. I crush up all her supplements (because she refuses to eat them whole 😅) and mix everything together with a little hot water 🤍
What I add to her bowl each night:
• 1 pump Wild Alaskan salmon oil
• 1 allergy & itch chewy
• ½ joint supplement
Healthy pup, happy heart 🐾
If you have any dog health or ACL recovery suggestions, I’d love to hear them! 🐶✨
Do you feed your dog homemade or kibble?
Feeding your dog a homemade meal can be a wonderful way to ensure they get balanced nutrition tailored to their needs. In this case, the meal includes wholesome ingredients like white rice, green beans, peas, steamed carrots, and sweet potato — all great sources of vitamins, fiber, and energy for dogs. Adding a pump of Wild Alaskan salmon oil provides essential omega fatty acids (EPA and DHA), which support skin health, a shiny coat, and joint function. For dogs recovering from injuries such as ACL tears, joint health supplements like Nutramax Laboratories’ Cosequin are often recommended by veterinarians. These supplements typically contain glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, and hyaluronic acid, which may help support cartilage repair and reduce joint inflammation. Additionally, allergy and itch chews containing natural ingredients such as colostrum, omega fatty acids, and botanical extracts can help alleviate symptoms of allergies and promote a stronger immune system. A key tip shared here is crushing supplements and mixing them with a little warm water into the homemade food, which can help picky eaters accept their medications and supplements more easily. It’s important to warm the food slightly to enhance aroma and palatability, encouraging your dog to eat. Dental health is also important — ending with a mild, after-dinner minty treat can help maintain teeth cleanliness and fresh breath. Whether you choose homemade meals or premium kibble, consult your veterinarian to ensure your dog's diet meets their specific health, age, and activity needs, especially during recovery periods. Proper feeding routines, along with high-quality supplements and balanced homemade meals, contribute significantly to your furry friend’s overall wellness and quality of life.
