My top five reads of 2023 ✨

This was SO HARD. I read so many great books this year and it was reallllly hard to narrow down my top five. I feel like this is an accurate top five but I always have issues cross comparing genres. I more accurately probably have a top five fantasy, top five romance, and then a top five other. But here is what I decided to go with as my top five out of all 90 books I read this year. In no particular order:

The Shepard king duology:

These books are AMAZING and I don’t think I’ve ever read a series where the second book was better than the first one. The characters in this, the dark gothic world and storytelling, I loved these books from start to finish. I cannot wait to see what this author writes next.

Magnolia Parks/Daisy Haites series:

If you’ve ever encountered me talking about books on the internet then you know how much I love this series. I am both dying for the next book to come out and also wishing it wouldn’t because I don’t want these books to end 🥹

Divine Rivals:

The sequel just came out and if I wasn’t so busy right now I would have absolutely finished it by now. Divine rivals is the perfect balance of historical vibes, magical elements and romance. I mean come on, the book has magical typewriters?!

Seven Year Slip:

Magical realism was a genre I discovered this year and this is more romance magical realism then anything but I LOVED THIS. I think about this book all the time. Living in an apartment where it randomly jumps back in time seven years or forward seven years… it was just a magical romantic read from start to finish.

Mistborn:

I’ve said it before, I’ll say over and over again. Brandon Sanderson is soooo worth the hype. My only regret? Having this book on my shelf for so long without reading it. The magic system is so unique and I was so invested in all the characters and their development.
