I couldn’t stand this popular book…
I’m not one for negative reviews, but this book literally felt like hodge hodge of a bunch of really popular books, primarily the hunger games. SO MUCH of this book felt like it came straight from the hunger games books. The main character gets forced into these trials that the “poorer” parts of town have to participate in. Her weapon of choice is a bow and arrow? There is an announcer with a very big personality and blue hair AND the rich people can vote on the competitors and send them gifts while they compete.
This book has been all over my pages on all forms of social media and I do not understand the hype about it if you have ever read any of the popular books it feels based on. The whole time I was reading this I wasn’t enjoying it because it reminded me of my favorite books, it genuinely felt like a copy and paste of the stories.
If you’ve read this let me know what your thoughts were on it and if you felt the same way. I haven’t heard of anyone else feeling this way other than the fellow low star goodreads reviews.

A friend and I both read it at the same time. We both said it felt like the book was just taking all of the best parts of popular books from recent years and chopping them into a new book… so we thought it was mediocre. In fact the exact wording used was “trash… but trash I can’t get enough” 🤣 we will read book 2
