Tonies characters review- least favorites 🤍
We love our tonies box so much! Here are my least favorite that we have.
The witches- this one is sort of scary for my 3 year old. She turns it off immediately
Cinderella- it’s so short! She doesn’t typically reach for this one.
The snowman- this one is a classic but it’s only 17 min long. Not worth the money!
Rapunzel- I wanted to love this 😭 my daughter loves tangled so much so we had to have this. Unfortunately, the voice isn’t the same as the movie so this goes in the least favorite category 💔

As much as we adore our Tonies box and the screen-free fun it brings, not every character is a winner in our household. After experiencing a few duds, I wanted to dive deeper into why certain Tonies ended up on our 'least favorite' list and share some insights to help fellow parents make informed choices. It's all about maximizing the magic and avoiding those frustrating purchases! First, let's talk about the dreaded short stories. The Cinderella Tonie that's only about 20 minutes long and the Snowman Tonie clocking in at a mere 17 minutes were big disappointments for us. As a parent, I've learned that playtime duration is a HUGE factor. My little one needs at least 30 minutes to get fully immersed in a story or music, otherwise, it feels like I'm constantly switching them out. For the price point, those shorter Tonies just don't offer the same value or sustained engagement as longer ones. It's a common complaint I've heard from other parents too – we want content that can actually keep them occupied for a decent stretch of time without interruption. Then there's the issue of character authenticity, especially for beloved figures like Rapunzel. My daughter absolutely adores Tangled, so we were so excited for the Rapunzel Tonie. However, when the voice wasn't the original from the movie, it was a real letdown. It sounds ridiculous, to be honest! It completely pulled her out of the story, and she rarely reaches for it. This taught me a valuable lesson: if your child is really attached to a specific character's voice from a film, always check reviews or descriptions to ensure the Tonie delivers an authentic experience. A mismatched voice, even if the story is good, can easily make a Tonie a 'worst' rather than a 'best'. Another point of contention can be age appropriateness, something we discovered with The Witches Tonie. For my 3-year-old, it was just too scary. She turns it off immediately! What might be suitable for an older child can be genuinely frightening for a little one, leading to immediate turn-offs and wasted money. Always consider your child's specific sensitivities and age before introducing characters that might have darker themes, even if subtly presented. So, how do we find the 'least annoying Tonies' and avoid the 'worst Tonies' moving forward? I've started looking for a few key things: I prioritize Tonies with longer run times (ideally 30+ minutes), check for authentic character voices if it's a known movie character, and always read parent reviews regarding content and age suitability. Sometimes, the most unexpected Tonies become favorites, but being armed with information helps avoid the obvious pitfalls. While we haven't had a Tonie break on us yet (they seem pretty durable!), I do try to keep them organized to prevent accidental drops. And for those rare 'retired Tonies' you see online? My advice is to still do your research on the story itself, not just its rarity. A rare Tonie isn’t worth it if it ends up being a 'least favorite' anyway! Ultimately, our goal as parents is to find engaging, valuable, and enjoyable content for our kids. By sharing our 'worst' experiences with Tonies, I hope to help others make smarter choices for their own little listeners.

This is an awesome post! I had a few questions… When is the average length time that they play for? I see you mentioned 17 minutes being short and 20 minutes on another.. do you have suggestions for one that play for longer? 💭
