PROTEIN & COFFEE SHAKE
One of my go-to breakfast options, especially when I’m headed into work. It’s quick, easy and filling to get me started with my day. The how-to is in the images but below I’ll share what specifically I used. Any of these ingredients can be altered to your own preferences.
Macros in this are:
368 cals
8g fat
34g protein
41g carbs
What I used:
Fairlife whole milk (gives extra protein)
Clean Simple Eats Chocolate Brownie Batter protein powder. (tastes as good as the name and no weird mouth feels like a lot of protein powders.)
Nescafé Gold Blend instant espresso
Small banana
Don’t forget the ice. I’ve tried this recipe without it and hated it.

Ever since I started incorporating this protein coffee shake into my routine, my mornings have been so much smoother! It’s not just about convenience; it’s about starting the day feeling nourished and energized, especially when I’m headed into a busy workday. If you're looking for a simple whey protein shake that doubles as your morning coffee, you've come to the right place. Let’s dive a bit deeper into why this particular blend works so well and how you can personalize it to your taste. First off, the star of the show for me is a high-quality protein powder. I swear by Clean Simple Eats Chocolate Brownie Batter. Finding a protein powder that dissolves well and doesn't leave a weird mouthfeel is a game-changer. Whey protein is fantastic for muscle recovery and satiety, making this shake incredibly filling. But if you have dietary preferences, feel free to swap it for a plant-based protein powder – just make sure it’s one you enjoy the taste of! The goal is to make something you'll actually look forward to drinking. Next up, the coffee element. I use Nescafé Gold Blend instant espresso for its ease and strong coffee flavor. It blends seamlessly into the shake without needing to brew a whole pot. If you prefer a milder coffee taste or don’t have instant espresso, you can totally use a shot of brewed espresso or even a strong cold brew concentrate. Just adjust the liquid amount slightly to maintain your desired consistency. Adding instant coffee to protein shake recipes is such a time-saver! For the base, Fairlife whole milk is my secret ingredient. Not only does it add a creamy richness, but it also packs extra protein, bumping up those macros even further. Of course, any milk will work – almond milk, oat milk, or regular dairy milk are all great choices. Experiment to see what you like best! The OCR results even show a glass of milk with protein powder scoop, which is exactly how I start! Now, for that touch of natural sweetness and creaminess, a small banana is essential. It helps thicken the shake and adds potassium and other good-for-you nutrients. If bananas aren’t your thing, a few dates or a spoonful of almond butter can achieve a similar effect on texture and flavor. And speaking of texture, don't forget the ice! The OCR showed ice cubes being added, and seriously, this step is non-negotiable for me. It makes the shake wonderfully cold and frothy, transforming it from just a drink to a truly enjoyable experience. Blending it all in a blender cup until smooth and achieving that frothy top is key to perfection. To really make this coffee protein shake your own, consider these additions: a pinch of cinnamon for warmth, a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder for a deeper chocolate flavor, or even a handful of spinach (you won't taste it, I promise!). This easy protein coffee smoothie blender recipe is so versatile. It’s not just for breakfast; I’ve found it’s also a fantastic post-workout recovery drink or a satisfying afternoon snack when I need an energy boost. Give it a try and tweak it to fit your perfectly!
