The Expanse series.

FIRST dive into sci-fi and I loooove it. The writing is great, the plot is great, the character banter is great. I was skeptical at first, never having read anything like this before but dang it’s dope and I can really visualize a whole society living up in space. You’ve got war, thieves stealing engines and AIR, a girl who needs saving… so much happens in just the first ten chapters so brace yourselves.

Corey constructs a believable, complex society living in space immediately pulled me into its world. The tension between different factions—ranging from powerful political entities to desperate thieves stealing engines and the all-important air—creates a dynamic setting where every chapter feels loaded with suspense and intrigue. One aspect that stood out to me was the nuanced portrayal of characters. The banter and interactions feel authentic, balancing moments of humor and gravity that make the cast relatable and engaging. For example, the story includes a compelling narrative about a girl who is in serious danger, adding emotional depth to the otherwise action-packed plot. What’s impressive is how much happens within just the first ten chapters—warfare, espionage, rescue missions—you’re constantly on edge, eager to see what unfolds next. The series also benefits from being adapted into a Prime Original series, bringing these vivid interplanetary adventures to both readers and viewers. If you’re new to science fiction like I was, The Expanse is an excellent gateway. It offers not just thrilling adventure but also a vivid vision of future space societies where survival, politics, and technology collide. Its bestselling status and wide appeal among sci-fi fans attest to its quality and immersive storytelling. For anyone contemplating picking up a new sci-fi book, The Expanse series checks all the boxes: engaging story, rich character development, and a carefully imagined universe that sparks the imagination. I highly recommend giving it a try—you might just find it as captivating as I did.
