My New Craft Cart. My younger grandkids (24) love
I’m a SNF and REHAB Nurse. This was a retired medicine cart we were throwing away. My head had a thousand thoughts and ideas on the many cool azz things I could make out of it!! I’ll post it in a video of how I stocked it! It is a work in progress! EDIT: I loaded some stuff in….looks like I need more room!
Upcycling old furniture and equipment is a fantastic way to reduce waste and create personalized, functional items for your home or workspace. In this case, a retired medicine cart, typically used in nursing facilities, serves as an excellent foundation for a new craft cart. These carts are usually sturdy, mobile, and feature multiple tiers, making them ideal for organizing art supplies, tools, and materials. To begin the transformation, consider cleaning and sanding the cart to prepare for painting or decorating. Using vibrant paints or applying decoupage techniques can add a personal touch and make the cart visually appealing. Adding labeled containers or baskets on each shelf helps maintain organization and easy access to craft materials. For those looking to maximize utility, incorporating hooks or magnetic strips can hold scissors, rulers, or metal tools. Since the cart is mobile, it allows for easy transport of supplies between rooms or workspaces. This approach exemplifies sustainable crafting by giving new life to otherwise discarded items. It also fosters creativity—both in the process of redesigning the cart and in the use of the final product to keep craft projects organized. Such DIY projects are increasingly popular among hobbyists, crafters, and eco-conscious creators. Moreover, documenting the transformation through photos or videos, as mentioned, can inspire others and provide useful tips on the process. Whether you are a nurse, caregiver, or craft enthusiast, converting a medicine cart into a craft organizer is a practical, cost-effective way to enhance your crafting space.
