CAT GYM

Still adding more as I watch them use it. Needing to add an extra platform for my “chunky” tortoiseshell female, Tesla. She is skittish and nervous about making a jump to the corner. It’s a work in progress but it gets them out of the dog’s reach when they aren’t in the mood for them! Should I decorate around it??I thought about adding a large tree branch….?

In my own setup, I noticed that my tortoiseshell cat, Tesla, who is a bit on the chunkier side and a little nervous about jumping to higher platforms, benefitted greatly from having an extra, closer platform to build her confidence. This gradual approach helps shy or anxious cats gain trust in their environment without feeling pressured. When thinking about decorating the cat gym, natural elements such as large tree branches can add both visual interest and functional climbing opportunities. Just ensure the branches are clean, securely anchored, and free of any pesticides or toxins. It's also wise to consider the overall safety in your multi-pet household; the elevated space keeps cats out of a dog's way when they're not in the mood for interaction. Observe your cat as they explore the gym and make adjustments accordingly—whether it's adding more platforms, soft padding for landings, or scratching posts. Personalizing the space not only boosts your cat's physical health through exercise but also supports their mental well-being by providing a stimulating and secure environment. Overall, patience and creativity go a long way in developing a successful cat gym that’s well-loved by your feline friend.
