Aroma Concepts sent me the Musk Collection from Gulf Orchid. Thoughts below:
Pomegranate - this one is tart, fresh, and fruity. It doesn’t last very long on skin or project very much, but it does give a realistic scent. It is quite tart and doesn’t have a lot of depth; it’s linear.
Tropical Fruits - this smells good, don’t get me wrong—but I would be lying to you if I said it smelled like tropical fruits. You get a burst of clean pear in the opening and it dries down to a clean fruity musk with a hint of sweetness.
Blueberry - I was super excited for this one, but sadly there is no distinct blueberry to be found. It’s a clean, fruity musk scent, maybe a kiss of “berry.” I made my own blueberry perfume once upon a time, so I really had high hopes to smell a hint of the familiar here.
Vanilla Tahara - Vanilla is a fan favorite for so many, and this one is really nice. It is not at all gourmand, however—Vanilla Tahara is intensely musky-powdery. After trying it for some time I realized I reminded me of Vanilla Fields from Coty— the 90s classic! I don’t own a bottle anymore, but they ring familiar to me. The drawback? It began to give me a headache. I will try it out again and see how it does.
These are supposed to be “out of the shower” fragrances designed for layering. I think my favorites are Tropical Fruits (even though it was not very tropical) and Vanilla Tahara. Blueberry is the one I would skip.
The packaging is nice—I wish the caps were more pastel colored instead of bold primary colors. They are 60 ml/2 oz each.
