Baptists need to change their name!

From my own experience attending various Christian gatherings, I've noticed how important a name can be in shaping both identity and perception. The name 'Baptist' often reflects a historical and doctrinal background that might not always clearly communicate a direct connection to Christ’s teachings. Many believers, including myself, have wrestled with the idea that church names should emphasize the core of Christian faith—Jesus Christ himself. Philippians 2:9 states that God has given Christ the name above every other name, which underscores the importance of centering our identity around Him. In conversations with fellow Christians, I've found that when a church’s name explicitly references Jesus, it fosters a stronger sense of unity and clarity about the mission to honor and follow Christ. It also helps communicate the church’s purpose to outsiders who may not be familiar with denominational distinctions. Changing a historic name like 'Baptist' isn't a small task—it means re-evaluating long-held traditions and the comfort of familiar labels—but it can be a powerful statement of faith and a renewed commitment to representing Jesus directly. Ultimately, a name change could encourage more churches to focus on inclusivity and the core message of Christianity, rather than divisions created by denominational terms. This shift could help believers worldwide emphasize the values and teachings of Christ above all else.
