Let’s open a pack of 1990 Score Hockey cards on this Throwback Thursday!
It's Throwback Thursday time!
The NHL season started a couple days ago so let's open a pack of 1990 Score Hockey cards.
Got a 1990 All-Star First Team card of Kings Luc Robitaille. Also got several Prospect cards in the pack of Bob Beers, Jeff Hackett, Jim Hrivnak and Nelson Emerson.
They aren't really true throwback cards but also wanted to show off my Gavin McKenna 2024 Topps Now when he scored his first goal at Penn State since he made his NHL debut Tuesday night. Also Adam Fantilli 2023-2024 Future Watch card of the Blue Jackets who start their season tonight.
Opening a 1990 Score Hockey card pack on Throwback Thursday is like stepping back into a golden era of NHL card collecting. Those cards, featuring stars such as Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille, capture a significant period in hockey history that card enthusiasts cherish. I remember the excitement of pulling a first-team All-Star card—it’s a thrilling find even decades later. Beyond nostalgia, collecting these cards often brings back memories of the players’ prime years and the dynamics of the league at that time. It’s also fascinating to compare these vintage cards with modern ones, like the 2024 Topps Now cards for Gavin McKenna, highlighting new talents making their mark. For those who enjoy prospect cards, the 1990 pack is notable as it showcases future contributors like Bob Beers and Jeff Hackett before they reached their peak in the NHL. These prospect cards add an element of anticipation and value that appeals to dedicated collectors. In recent years, incorporating current cards such as Adam Fantilli’s Future Watch from the Blue Jackets reflects how the sport and card collecting evolved, blending past and present in a compelling way. Opening these packs now can be both a trip down memory lane and a way to stay connected to the ongoing story of hockey. If you’re an NHL fan or a hockey card collector, revisiting packs like the 1990 Score series provides both collector’s joy and a deeper appreciation for the game’s history and emerging stars. It’s an engaging way to celebrate the sport and enjoy the thrill of discovery on every pack opening.
