Coming back to my beloved island, Puerto Rico, always fills my heart with joy, and this recent visit to Guavate was nothing short of perfection. Beyond the picturesque streams and forests, Guavate is also famous for its 'Ruta del Lechón' – the Pork Highway. While my focus this trip was on reconnecting with nature, the aroma of slow-roasted pork wafting from nearby lechoneras is an integral part of the experience, a delicious reminder of Puerto Rican culinary traditions. To truly enjoy a visit like mine, I'd suggest wearing comfortable attire, something light and airy like a midi dress or shorts, and definitely bring water shoes if you plan on exploring the streams or rivers. There are so many hidden gems to discover, and having the right gear makes all the difference. Don't forget your camera, because every turn offers a postcard-worthy view. Just imagine capturing a moment like that smiling woman with braided hair, completely at peace in this natural paradise. The feeling of being completely immersed in such a beautiful, natural environment, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life, is what I cherish most. It's a place where you can truly unwind, breathe deeply, and just be present. Guavate isn't just a destination; it's an experience that rejuvenates your soul.
