Looking for constructive feedback on our budget
Critique Budget $350,000 salary
I am genuinely interested in constructive feedback for our budget. Salary is $350,000. Take home is $18,000 per month. IRA’s have been maxed out for 2024, that is why our car payment ($25,000 balance) is so high.
Should we be putting aside more in money market/savings? Somewhere else? Look forward to reading feedback!
Managing a budget can be challenging, especially with high expenses and a significant salary. In your case, the fixed expenses listed total $9,200, leaving approximately $8,800 available for savings and discretionary spending monthly. Consider diversifying your savings strategy beyond the maximum IRA contributions for 2024. A money market account can provide liquidity while offering competitive interest rates, which can be beneficial for short-term savings goals. Additionally, it may be wise to allocate funds into a high-yield savings account for emergencies or unexpected expenses. Given your car payment of $25,000, reviewing your auto loan terms and exploring refinancing options might help reduce the monthly burden. It is also worth assessing all fixed expenses and seeing if any areas can be trimmed—like dining out or club memberships—to funnel those savings into investments or savings. Create a balanced approach that prioritizes emergency funds, retirement savings, and present lifestyle needs to maintain financial health in the long run.

i aspire to have a $900 spending budget 😂
