How can I fix bad breath?

I for some reason always have really bad breath and I’m really insecure abt it 😭. I always floss before I brush my teeth, I brush my teeth with new tooth paste and mouth wash 2x a day. I am always on top of my teeth hygiene but for some reason my breath always smells bad? I use mints too and it will last for like 2 seconds. I also chew gum but that doesn't do nothing

One common reason for persistent bad breath is dry mouth, medically called xerostomia. Saliva plays a crucial role in cleansing the mouth and removing food particles; when there isn’t enough saliva, odor-causing bacteria thrive. Staying hydrated and using alcohol-free mouth rinses can help mitigate this issue. Another factor to consider is your diet. Foods such as garlic, onions, and certain spices can contribute to unpleasant odors that persist even after brushing. Incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables can also promote better breath, thanks to their high water content and crunchiness, which helps clean teeth naturally. Furthermore, bad breath can signal underlying health issues. Conditions like sinus infections, respiratory tract infections, and even digestive problems may result in halitosis. If your breath remains an issue despite good oral care, it might be wise to consult a healthcare provider to ensure no serious conditions are present. Lastly, consider your oral care routine carefully. Replace your toothbrush regularly, and don’t forget to brush your tongue where bacteria can linger. Flossing, using mouthwash, and regularly visiting your dentist for cleanings and check-ups can significantly reduce bad breath. By addressing hydration, diet, and potential health issues, you can take significant steps toward a fresher breath and improved self-confidence.

As a dental hygienist, bad breath is usually a gut issue or a bacteria /pH issue. Make sure the products you are using help balance ph in the mouth. Talk to your doctor about checking your gut too. Make sure you’re brushing your tongue every time you brush and floss that will help! 👍🏾
