Starting a new project!

I’ve had this book by Jera Branvig for a little while now & started looking through it for

12” quilt block ideas. One thing lead to another and I was able to make 5 blocks from

it today. I really like star blocks but wanted to try something I’ve never made before.

There are more quilt blocks to make and I plan to mix all the blocks together for a quilt.

I’m enjoying all the bright colors and creating something different for each block and….

you might be able to see my scrap boxes in some of the pictures. I’ve been able to

incorporate some of my scraps, I love that!

I took my first Ruler Quilting Class (online) last week. I have a ruler foot now that fits

my sewing machine & I’m waiting for the rulers I ordered. Maybe, just maybe, I can do

ruler quilting on these blocks and combine ruler quilting with quilt as you go.

The online class was with Silly Moon Quilting Co if you are interested in learning to

quilt with rulers.

... Read moreQuilting is an enriching craft where creativity knows no bounds. Many quilters enjoy experimenting with different block designs, and incorporating a variety of techniques can elevate your quilting projects. The ‘Quilt As You-Go’ method is particularly popular among crafters, allowing them to piece together individual blocks without worrying about the entire quilt's layout. This technique enables quilters to combine traditional and modern patterns seamlessly, creating pillows, table runners, or, of course, beautiful quilts. For those new to this approach, it’s worth exploring resources and online classes that specialize in ruler quilting, which can simplify the process. Brands like Silly Moon Quilting Co provide excellent online training to get started. By learning to use quilting rulers, you can achieve accurate measurements and unique designs that will help elevate your project. Don't forget to explore using scraps effectively; they not only add character but also help reduce waste. Plus, they can introduce exciting, unexpected color combinations to your quilts. You can even make personalized gifts for loved ones using your handles on techniques like quilt-as-you-go or the versatile star blocks. So gather your fabrics, channel your creative spirit, and enjoy the wonderful journey of quilting!
