How I got published at 18

During the pandemic I got bored, reallllly bored. So I

learned to draw and wrote a graphic novel ^

Writing:

First thing was a lot of planning, more planing than I thought I’d ever need to plan. I thought I could just wing it? But when I did that the writing and drawings were all over the place. So for the writing aspect I broke it up into a few steps:

- summary

The broad written out form of your idea

- key events

Each scene for your book (try to stick to major ones, not all the nitty gritty bits)

- actual writing

Only at this point did I start all the writing

Editing

I let EVERYONE read my book and edit. And that’s soooo important. It’s like your own test audience. See if things were predictable, cliche, or if everything is understandable.

Published

I made sure to create a neat and simple paper that described me, my age (trust me that’s a huge benefit), the book, and the first 15 pages for them to see. Then you email it out to every publisher you can find on the web.
