I used to think becoming meant becoming strong enough to carry everything. Now I think some of the deepest becoming happens when we finally realize what we can put down.

There are things I carried because I thought I was supposed to.

Expectations and, Explanations.

Responsibilities that quietly became part of my identity. And because I could carry them, I rarely stopped to ask whether I still should. God has been changing that in me. I'm learning that putting something down doesn't erase the woman who once carried it.

I can honor her.

I can appreciate her.

I can even thank God for the strength He gave her.

And still say.............

This doesn't belong in this season of my life.

Becoming has given me permission to meet myself again, not as who I was, but as the woman God is continuing to shape.

... Read moreIn my personal journey of growth and self-discovery, I’ve found that the hardest part isn’t always carrying our responsibilities but knowing when and how to let them go. This experience truly resonates with the idea that becoming stronger isn’t just about managing everything but understanding that some things are meant to be released to make space for new growth. There was a time when I believed that carrying all expectations, explanations, and duties was my duty, my identity. These burdens became intertwined with who I thought I was supposed to be—the 'strong one' who could handle it all. Yet, over time, I realized the profound freedom that comes from consciously choosing what to hold onto and what to set down. Letting go doesn’t mean denying the past or diminishing the strength we once had. Instead, it’s an act of honoring our journey and recognizing that growth requires new priorities. When I put down what no longer aligns with my life’s season, I’m not losing myself but allowing room for the person I’m becoming. This mindset shift has been deeply liberating and has encouraged me to embrace my evolving identity with grace and gratitude. Reflecting on this has helped me see that the woman who carried those burdens was incredibly strong and deserving of respect—and I can thank her for the resilience she showed. Yet, I also acknowledge that my current self is filled with wisdom, compassion, and courage to make different choices about what to carry forward. If you find yourself weighed down by expectations or identities that feel more like obligations than blessings, consider what you might set down. Giving yourself permission to release these can be transformative. Remember that growth is ongoing and meeting yourself anew in each season is a beautiful part of life’s unfolding story.
