Today is Trans Visibility Day, and tomorrow marks seven years since I had top surgery with Dr. Keith. Damn… time really does fly. Even as the years pass, I’ve never rushed through them. I’ve lived these years exactly how I’ve envisioned myself—waking up at dawn, working hard, building a career, living my life fully.
My journey isn’t perfect, and it will never be—but it is perfect for me. The surgeries I wanted, the research I did, the choices I made—they all brought me to this place, and I’m truly happy.
To everyone out there: whatever decisions you make—top surgery, bottom surgery, hormones, or none of these—you are visible, you are valid. Whether you carry a pregnancy, have someone else carry, adopt, or choose parenthood at any stage of your journey, your identity is valid. Every trans man, every trans woman, every nonbinary person has their own path. We aren’t trying to fit the norm—we’re creating our own.
Happy Trans Visibility Day to all my sisters, brothers, and everyone in between. Your existence matters, and your journey is powerful.
... Read moreTrans Visibility Day serves as an important reminder that every individual's journey is unique and worthy of respect and recognition. From my own experience, I've come to understand that the path to living authentically can take many forms. Some may choose surgeries such as top or bottom procedures, others may pursue hormone treatments, while some might opt for no medical interventions at all — and each choice is valid and deeply personal.
I’ve found that the biggest empowerment comes from embracing your own timeline and making decisions that align with your true self. It’s not about fitting into societal expectations but about creating a life that feels honest and full of meaning. Parenting options, whether through carrying a pregnancy, surrogacy, adoption, or other paths, are also vital aspects of identity that deserve acknowledgment and support within the trans community.
Living fully and visibly means building a career, nurturing relationships, and celebrating milestones, all while honoring the complexities of our identities. The support and visibility foster connection and create a sense of shared strength among transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse communities.
For those navigating this journey, I encourage embracing self-research and connecting with trusted healthcare providers who respect and support your choices. Sharing stories, like mine with Dr. Keith's top surgery, can offer hope and inspiration, reminding us that while the journey may have challenges, it is rich with growth and joy.
Ultimately, Trans Visibility Day highlights the power in authentic existence. It’s a celebration of resilience, individuality, and collective progress, inspiring everyone to keep forging paths that affirm who they are.
