Connecting with your Ancestors Prt. 3
3. Invocation / Opening the Line
Light your candle, breathe deeply, invite your ancestors in.
Speak aloud (or silently) a prayer or invocation. You can begin with something like:
> “Ancestors of my blood, line of my womb and bones, I call you now.
I open my home, open my heart, open my mind.
Walk with me, speak with me, guide me, protect me.”
You can speak their names, send love, express gratitude, and also speak your desires, petitions, or questions.
4. Offer, listen, and record
Place your offerings reverently at the altar.
Sit quietly, meditate, listen — pay attention to dreams, signs, sudden impressions, goosebumps, voices, symbols.
Keep a spirit journal — whether you got a message, saw a symbol in a dream, or felt a presence. Over time you’ll see patterns.
5. Maintain the altar & relationship
Refresh offerings (waste old food, replace water daily or regularly).
Cleanse periodically.
Speak with them often — you don’t only “do” when you need. Greet them in morning, “thank you” in evening.
Pay attention to what they desire in the altar: your ancestors are intelligent and communicative.
