... Read moreHey everyone! So glad you stopped by to check out my latest Undertale fanart. You might have seen my initial grayscale sketch of Flowey and wondered about the inspiration, especially with that iconic 'Flowey Ran Away' phrase! Well, let me dive a little deeper into the creative journey behind this piece, especially for those of you who were curious about the memes I referenced. First off, the 'Flowey Ran Away' meme is a classic within the Undertale fandom. It usually pops up when Flowey, the notoriously manipulative and often terrifying flower, makes a quick exit from a situation, often after being foiled or when things don't go his way. It's become a shorthand for his cowardly yet cunning nature, and it always gets a chuckle from fellow fans. I wanted to capture that essence, so you can see in my art how I depicted him with a sad expression and tears initially, almost as if he's retreating or regretting something, which is a rare but impactful look for him! Then, we have the other side of the coin: the 'I'm an Artist! I can draw you pregnant!' meme. This one is a bit more meta and speaks to the wild, often hilarious, side of online artist culture. It originated from a viral image of a small anime-style girl holding a comically large pencil, defiantly proclaiming, 'SHUT UP!! I'm an ARTIST! and i can draw you PREGNANT!!' It's a playful jab at the sometimes exaggerated self-importance or unique 'power' artists feel they have over their creations and even their audience. It's all in good fun, of course, and resonates with anyone who's ever felt the urge to wield their creative freedom in unexpected ways. Bringing these two together felt like the perfect blend of Undertale humor and internet culture. Flowey, with his dramatic and often menacing personality, is the ideal character to pair with such a bold artistic declaration. In my sketch, I tried to evolve his expression from that initial sadness to his more signature wicked glee, showcasing his menacing, wide smile and black eyes – almost as if he’s contemplating what wild artistic mischief he could conjure next. The idea of Flowey, a character who can manipulate timelines and souls, also having the power to 'draw you pregnant' is just too funny to pass up! Creating fanart like this is such a joy because it allows me to explore different facets of beloved characters and mash them up with current internet trends. It’s like giving a classic character a fresh, meme-worthy twist. I spent a lot of time thinking about how to best convey both the 'running away' aspect and the 'artist's power' in a single image, playing with his expressions to tell a story. Seeing the grayscale sketch come to life, from his initial retreat to his confident, sinister grin, was incredibly satisfying. I'm genuinely thinking about making a full-rendered version because I feel there's so much more emotion and detail I could bring out. What are your thoughts on combining different memes in fanart? Have you ever seen other Undertale characters in funny meme situations? I'd love to hear your favorite Undertale memes or even other iconic artist memes in the comments below! Let's keep the creative discussion going. It truly makes the art experience so much richer when we can share our interpretations and inspirations!
