Tell me, anyone who likes the frenzied 1830s investigation can't miss it! This movie takes us back to West Point Cadet School to investigate a brutal murder in which a victim was beheaded! Christian Bale (Landor), in the role of a lonely former detective, is carrying the whole movie with a strong performance and an eye that conveys pain.

The story takes place in 1830 at the United States Military Cadet School, West Point, in New York State, a place with strict rules and many hidden secrets. Landor, a brilliant former but now retired and isolated detective, was summoned by military officials from West Point to help investigate a terrifying case in secret. The case was the mysterious death of a cadet named Leroy Frye who was found dead by hanging, but what made the case complicated and creepy was that the heart of the body was torn away without a trace after the body was found.
Because of the need to maintain the reputation of the institution, the high-ranking officer wanted Detective Landor to carefully solve the case and close it in secret, Landor decided to enlist the help of the cadet, who had a sharp intelligence but a peculiar character and a passion for poetry composition, he was Edgar Allan Poe, who would later become a famous poet and writer, both collaborating on an informal investigation, confronting the cadets' law of silence.
