We took a trip to Greenville, SC over the weekend and we heard about SecondStory bookstore on tictok and wanted to check it out. Here’s my honest review..
💵 Price:
-Everything in the store will be about 1-6 dollars
👍Why I like it:
-They had a wide selection of books that was organized like a library, by genre and authors last name.
-Some of the books were current books you can find in stores now but most were older more nostalgic books
-Blind date with a book options
🤔Cons:
- some of the paperback books that were older I saw for 6 dollars which is till a discount but didn’t feel like a used book discount price for a paperback. I guess it just depends on how popular the title is.
⭐️Overall rating: 8/10: I would definitely be returning if I’m ever in Greenville and want to look for some new books but I wouldn’t make a trip to Greenville just for the bookstore. The prices are great and if you’re looking for a book you use to read and loved but just might find it there.

... Read moreMy recent trip to Greenville, SC, led me to a book lover's paradise I'd heard whispers about: the Goodwill Second Story Bookstore. From the moment I saw the vibrant mural outside, depicting diverse figures and the 'Goodwill' name, I knew this wasn't just any used bookstore. It promised a unique experience, and I couldn't wait to explore inside.
Stepping into 'Second Story A Goodwill Bookstore' was truly like entering a treasure trove. The first thing that struck me was how incredibly organized it was. Unlike some used bookstores where you have to dig through piles, here, the wide selection of books was neatly arranged on sturdy wooden bookshelves. They had everything categorized by genre and even by author's last name, just like a library! This made browsing an absolute joy, allowing me to easily navigate through the vast collection, from thrilling mysteries to heartwarming romances and fascinating non-fiction.
I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of titles available. While many were older, nostalgic books that brought back childhood memories, I also spotted quite a few current bestsellers that you'd still find in regular stores today. It felt like a true hunt for gems! I even saw popular titles like 'Eleanor & Park,' 'Twilight,' and '365 Days of Wonder' tucked away, waiting for their next reader. This mix of timeless classics and contemporary reads really broadened the appeal, ensuring there was something for every taste.
One of the most charming features was their 'Blind Date with a Book' section. What a fun concept! Each book was wrapped, with just a few intriguing keywords or a cryptic description to guide you. It's perfect for when you're feeling adventurous and want to discover something completely new without judging a book by its cover. I almost grabbed one, just for the thrill of the surprise!
When it comes to prices, the store definitely lives up to its Goodwill name. Most items were incredibly affordable, ranging from $1 to $6. While I did notice some older paperbacks priced at $6, which initially felt a bit high for a used book, it really depends on the title's popularity and condition. For many hardcovers and newer releases, these prices are an absolute steal. It’s a fantastic way to expand your personal library without breaking the bank, and you're also supporting a great cause.
Overall, my visit to the Goodwill Second Story Bookstore in Greenville, SC, was a delightful experience. If you’re ever in the area and have a passion for reading, or simply enjoy the thrill of a good bargain, I highly recommend stopping by. It's an ideal spot for finding your next favorite read, rediscovering a beloved classic, or even just spending a peaceful afternoon browsing among fellow book lovers. I’d definitely return if I find myself in Greenville again, eager to uncover more literary treasures!
