context on theo’s background
background: i adopted theo when he was 8 months old from a rescue in virginia. he is a dutch harness x friesian, which i call an amish warmblood! when i saw him i immediately fell in love. he was quiet, sensible, personable, and i could tell that he was an old soul. after letting him settle in at my farm, i started ground work and lunging. he still doesn’t understand the concept of lunging, so i don’t push it on him. he is so smart and gets herd bound so that makes things a little difficult since i have only one other horse with him while i try to ride.
present day: he is 2 years old and is standing at 15.1 hands (he just had a big growth spurt this month growing 2.5 inches). i just started him under saddle and he is doing phenomenal considering! he does throw a tantrum but doesnt rear, buck, or take off. he is so very kind when expressing himself when he doesn’t like something. he aims to please and is such a good sport about things.
my aspirations for him: i hope to make him into a fox hunter, hunter jumper, dressage, and possibly an eventing mount. he has so much potential for any or all of these disciplines; i might even dabble in some western sports. he’s got such great moment and i see so much talent and potential in this horse.
i can’t wait to see what he looks like fully mature and i am so eager to show him. i see him taking me up the levels as he is such a fancy mutt of a horse. i am so so so grateful for him!
