Removed existing toilet due to wear and performance issues and installed a new American Standard round front toilet.

Existing flange was left in place and inspected prior to install. Set new wax ring and closet bolts to ensure a proper seal.

Installed new supply line, secured and leveled unit, and tested for proper flush function and leak-free operation. Finished with clean caulking around base.

... Read moreUpgrading your bathroom with a new toilet can seem like a straightforward task, but from my experience, attention to detail makes all the difference in ensuring long-term performance and avoiding issues like leaks or uneven flushing. One crucial step I’ve learned is thoroughly inspecting the existing flange before installing the new toilet. Even if you plan to keep the old flange, make sure it’s not cracked or loose because this can cause instability or water leaks later on. Sometimes, you might need to replace or repair the flange if it’s damaged. Using a high-quality wax ring is essential to create a tight seal between the toilet base and flange. I always recommend a wax ring with a plastic or rubber flange attached for extra protection against leaks. It’s also important to make sure the closet bolts are positioned properly and tightened evenly to prevent cracking the toilet base. When connecting the water supply line, opting for a flexible and durable supply tube makes installation easier and allows for slight adjustments when leveling the toilet. Leveling is a step too often overlooked but critical for comfort and function—double-check with a level tool before fully securing the toilet. After installation, testing the flush function multiple times and inspecting all joints for leaks gives peace of mind that everything was done correctly. Finally, applying clean caulking around the base not only enhances the bathroom’s look but also prevents any water from seeping underneath. Throughout this process, I’ve found the American Standard round front toilet to offer reliable flushing performance and comfort. This blend of careful prep and quality components ensures that your new toilet installation will be leak-free, stable, and hassle-free for years to come.
