i’m so tired of the lack of respect, representation, and funding women’s sports get because “there’s not enough demand”. the demand is there. we are waiting for yall to notice. #uswnt #shebelievescup #soccer #gothamfc #nwsl
Having attended several women’s soccer matches myself, I can personally attest that the passion and support for women’s sports are strong and growing. Just recently, I was at a game in New Jersey where around 22,000 fans braved freezing weather to watch top-tier women’s national teams compete. This tremendous turnout clearly disproves the outdated notion that there isn’t enough demand. From my experience, the issue isn’t a lack of interest but rather the inadequate media coverage and funding, which leads to low visibility and misconceptions about women’s sports popularity. Fans like me have been waiting for broadcasters and sponsors to invest more seriously. When women’s games receive prime-time slots and improved marketing, the viewership numbers and fan enthusiasm soar. Moreover, following hashtags such as #USWNT, #SheBelievesCup, and #NWSL has helped me connect with a vibrant community that shares updates, player stories, and event information that often aren’t featured in mainstream sports media. This digital engagement amplifies the voices calling for equality in sports funding and respect. Women's soccer is not just entertainment; it's a movement representing dedication, talent, and resilience. Supporting events like the SheBelieves Cup or local teams such as Gotham FC fosters a more inclusive sports culture and helps secure the funding and recognition women athletes deserve. Let’s continue showing up, voicing support, and pushing for the respect women's sports have long earned but are still fighting to receive.
