Many people face comments like "but didn't you used to sleep with men?"—a question that can be hurtful and invalidating. It reflects a common misconception that being lesbian or sapphic is just a phase or something that can be changed. Living through such doubts from family and society can affect self-esteem and mental health. For me, it was a journey of growth and acceptance. I realized the importance of finding a supportive community where I could express myself freely without judgment. Connecting with others who identify as lesbian, sapphic, or wlwm gave me strength and helped me understand my own identity better. It's also essential to recognize harmful growing patterns in how some families react to a loved one's sexuality. Accepting that these challenges may exist but do not define who we are helped me set healthy boundaries. Advocating for oneself and seeking mental health support can be pivotal. Sharing our stories, like those tagged #lesbian, #sapphic, #wlw, and #gay, fosters greater understanding and combats harmful stereotypes. It’s empowering to know that we’re not alone and that our identities are valid and beautiful. This collective voice helps promote love, acceptance, and pride within and beyond our communities.
